About this perfume

Blackcurrant gives the opening a tart, slightly green bite, pink pepper adding prickle over bergamot. The heart is jasmine three ways: jasmine tea smoky and dry, jasmine absolute rich, jasmine sambac sharper and more indolic. Underneath, cashmeran and guaiac wood keep it firmly woody, with bourbon vanilla warming the finish. Sonia Constant built a floral that behaves like a woody, and that is the appeal.

Valentino Garavani founded the house in Rome in 1960 and gave couture one of its few genuinely proprietary colours in Valentino red. The fragrance line was relaunched in 2019 under a partnership with L'Oréal, and the Born in Roma pillars — built on studded bottles and unusually woody florals — have since become the house's most commercially successful scents.
