The 2018 L'Interdit revives the name Hubert de Givenchy created for Audrey Hepburn in 1957, this time built around a tuberose the brief specifically asked to be 'forbidden' - sweeter and less funereal than a classic tuberose, propped up by ambroxan, vetiver and patchouli. About this perfume

Pear and bergamot give it a short, bright opening before tuberose takes over almost entirely - creamy, a little rubbery in the way tuberose always is, softened here by orange blossom and jasmine sambac rather than left to go heady on its own. Ambroxan and vetiver keep the base modern and slightly synthetic-clean, with vanilla and patchouli underneath. Three perfumers deliberately built a tuberose for people who think they don't like tuberose.
